Two-thirds of Americans have pets,
and most agree: they’re family! But last year’s
rising prices on everything from electricity bills
to groceries has made it harder to care for them.
It’s hurting people and pets, says Scott Giacoppo,
director of national shelter support for Best Friends
Animal Society. The number of pets losing their
homes and going to shelters has increased, more
so in certain regions. Animal shelters and rescue
groups are working together. They move some
animals from one part of the country to another
where they will be more quickly adopted.
