Appreciation Week. Appreciation is another
word for feeling grateful. It's time to express
gratitude to animal shelters and rescue
groups around the country. You probably
know that they match pets without homes
to loving families. Many also organize food
banks and low-cost veterinary care for pets
in need. You and your family can help your

shelter or rescue by donating money or
supplies. Check to see if yours has a “wish
list.” You can also give your time. Through

volunteer foster programs, people care for
pets in their homes until they're ready to
be adopted.
