Critter Clues

I am found all over North America, from Canada to Mexico.

I live in forests and in mountains, and sometimes cities and suburbs.

Loss of habitat, or places to live, is the biggest threat to my survival.

My short claws help me climb trees. In the summer, I may sleep in a tree!

Though I’m a mammal, I can swim a mile and a half!

Many people are afraid of me. Speak gently and wave your arms to keep me away.
